To address the particular demands of hunters, birders, and outdoor enthusiasts—especially those who glass across vast distances like the prairies of the American West—Celestron upgraded their venerable series of binoculars with extra-low-dispersion glass in the 12x50 Nature DX ED Binoculars. They deliver bright high-contrast images with accurate true-to-life color and crisp clarity even when observing from long distances.

To achieve this optical performance, these binoculars feature anti-reflection fully multi-coated extra-low dispersion (ED) glass lenses with phase-corrected BAK4 roof prisms. The apparent angle of view approaches wide angle to not only present an immersive observational experience to complement the impressive performance, it also helps to minimize the appearance of the distracting hand shake that is common when holding high-power optics.

Designed to stand up to a lifetime of outdoor use, the binoculars' chassis is made of a lightweight and durable polycarbonate that is also corrosion resistant to make it ideal for boaters. The optical tubes are nitrogen filled and O-ring sealed to make them waterproof and resistant to internal fogging when moving through extreme changes in temperature or environmental conditions. Celestron binoculars include tethered front and rear lens caps to add an additional layer of protection in the field, with the ability to quickly react to glassing opportunities without fear of losing the caps. For those long days in your blind or in the field, or if you just want to eliminate arm fatigue or hand shake, the Nature DX ED binoculars can be tripod mounted using an optional adapter.

Optical Performance

  • Powerful 12x magnification is optimized for viewing across long flat distances such as the prairies of the American West
  • Large 50mm objective lens provides the light-gathering capacity required to keep views crisp and bright when viewing targets at extreme distances
  • Compact roof prism design provides a slim form factor, despite the large objectives, without compromising performance
  • BAK4 prism glass delivers a round exit pupil and a crisp and clear image with limited edge distortion
  • Phase-corrected prism coatings reduce internal interference to improve contrast, clarity, and resolution
  • Extra-low dispersion (ED) glass lens elements reduce chromatic and spherical aberrations to produce views with true color rendition without fringing, halos, or distortion across the entire field of view
  • Anti-reflection fully multi-coated lenses maximize light transmission for bright and clear images with accurate color rendition
  • Apparent angle of view approaches wide angle to help minimize the appearance of distracting hand shake that is common when holding high-power optics
  • 252-foot field of view at 1000 yards

Use and Handling

  • Closed bridge configuration offers a stable platform for the internal focusing mechanism
  • Large slip-resistant center focus wheel is easy to manipulate in cold or wet conditions, or when wearing gloves
  • ±3 right-eye diopter adjustment enables users to compensate for optical prescription for sharper focusing
  • Wide 56-74mm inter-pupillary adjustment range allows easy use by a wide variety of people
  • Twist-up click-stop eyecups for comfortable use with or without eyewear
  • Tripod mountable with optional adapter for hands-free use to eliminate vibrations and arm fatigue
  • 14.3mm eye relief
  • Comfortable 4.1mm exit pupil will cover most pupils as they open and dilate in low light, ensuring the entire view remains visible

Construction Details

  • Light and durable polycarbonate chassis is resistant to the expansion and contraction that metal chassis are susceptible to and which can cause the optical components to move out of alignment over time, preventing the ability to achieve sharp focus
  • Exterior rubber armor with textured palm pads offers impact protection while providing a slip-resistant grip
  • Nitrogen filled and O-ring sealed to be waterproof and resistant to internal fogging when moving though extreme temperature and environmental conditions
  • Tethered flip-down objective lens caps and a one-piece ocular rain-guard allow for fast reaction to glassing opportunities while keeping the caps out of the way and safe
  • Padded nylon canvas carrying case with a padded neck strap
